 Understanding Puppy Raising

I Have been teaching people and training dogs and through that time people have asked me the same questions over and over.

.Why does my puppy nip me?
.Why is he digging up my backyard?
.Is my puppy allowed to sleep in my bed?
.Which vaccinations should my puppy get and when?
.Can I feed her generic puppy food? It's much cheaper!
.Why does she scoot her rear end on the ground?

Get Ready For a Puppy

.How busy are you?
You will also need time to start teaching your puppy. Housetraining, of course, is a necessity and
it cerainly take time. Teaching your puppy other household rules, such as what to chew on
(and what not to chew on) also takes time.
.Time for exercise?
In the beginning, play times will he simple and short, but as your puppy grows, this stamina and
endurance will increase, and his exercise needs will increase as well. You must find time for
exercise. Many canine behavior problems result form too much energy and not enough exercise.
.The kids.
Often parents of young children get a puppy so that the dog and kids can grow up together.
This is fine, as long as your remember that your puppy should be submissive and make your
kids the dominant one. A tummy rub means play, exercise, bonding, and showing your dominance
all in one go.
.Other dogs or pets?
If you have a dog or two, adding puppy the right way is very important. The first thing you should
do is go for a walk. His will make your new puppy part of pack. Never have your dogs meat face
to face for the first time, especially if you own a power full breed like pit bulls and bull dogs.

Long Hair or Short?

.Short Coats
Boxers, Doberman pinschers and Labrador Retrievers all have short, slick coats that aren't long
enough to tangle or mat. However, don't make the mistake of thinking this short coat doesn't
shed it does, and twice a year these breeds shed heavily. The hair that is shed is short instead
of long - just the right length for working its way into your sofa cushions.

.Mid-length Coats
Coat types vary incredibly among breeds. Australian shepherds have a medium-length, silky coat
that is easy to brush and care for. It will rarely mat and dirt will fall out of it. However, these dogs
do shed, and heavily so twice a year.

.Long, Flowing Coats
The Irish, English and Cordon Setters have a gorgeous long, Flowing coat that is absolutely
stunning, but this coat comes with a price. It needs to be combed daily or it will mat - and it
is capable of matting horribly!

.Coats that always grow
Many other breeds, including poodles and cocker spaniels, have hair that grows constantly
and needs regular grooming and haircuts. If you cannot cut the dog's hair yourself, make
sure you take the cost of professional grooming into consideration before getting one of these
breeds. As a general rule, most of these breeds should get a haircut or professional
grooming every 5 weeks. In between, you will need to keep them demitted and brushed.

The First Week

.When should your puppy come home?
The best time for a puppy to leave his/her mom between 7 and 8 weeks of age. During the
8th week he will go through a fear period, and if he is frightened at the time
(say, of the car ride) those fears could remain for a long time. If you can't bring the puppy
home during the 7th week, wait until he's 9 weeks old to bypass that scary 8th week.

.Why not in the your bedroom?
I like to have my puppy sleep in the bedroom with me. Not in the bed of course he needs
his own place. but if his crate is in the bedroom with me I can hear him/her when he
needs to go outside. Young puppies usually need to go outside once or during the night
for a week or two, and if you hear the puppy get restless, you can take him out before
there is an accident. I also feel that by being in the room with me, the puppy will feel less
alone and more secure. Even though he/she is in his/her crate, he can still hear me
snore, hear me turn over, and can smell me.

.Limit your puppy access
To keep a eye on your puppy, set up baby gate to block off hallways or close the doors. This will
also help you whith potty training. Make sure other family members close doors, too, and
understand th imortance of restricting the puppy's access. If the puppy is in the room with you
demanding attention, but you have things to do, distract him/her with a chew toy. He can then still
be with you but won't be annoying you.

Setting Household Rules

.Is the puppy allowed on your bed?
Many dog owners do let their dog sleep on their bed. However, this is one household rule that I
feel pretty strongly about: The dog should not be allowed to sleep on your bed! She should sleep
in your room, but in her crate or in her own bed. If you have a dog with you will give her delusions
of graneur. She will think she is just as good as you are, because she also sleeps in the big bed.
That attitude will make her difficult to control in other circumstances. That's why she should's
sleep in your bed or your kid's beds. she needs her own bed. If your dog is already sleeping on
the bed and growls at you when you move her or ask her to get off, call me or call a different
trainer or behaviorist for help right away. This can be a serious behavior problem that has been
known to end up with the dog biteing your kids, or you the owner.

.Is the puppy allowed to beg for food?
This really isn't an acceptable habit. The puppy that begs for food usually ends up being a
big pest, pawing legs, licking hands, or even stealing food. If you don't want to allow begging
make sure no one feeds the puppy as they eat, whether it's from the table or when you're
snacking off the counter. No exceptions!

.Digging
To stop the digging, you need to prevent it form happening. When you're not home, don't let
the puppy have free access to the lawn build her a dog run where she can do anything she
wants! If she is digging in a sertin spot or in your garden that you don't want your dog to dig,
place some of her feces where she is digging, most dogs don't dig up there own feces.

.Why does my dog roll in stinky sruff?
This is another habit that puzzles many dog owners. why does a dog roll herself in cow
manure, rotting carcasses, or other stinky stuff? Some expert say that many predators,
including dogs, roll in filth to help disguise their scent. Some dogs don't roll in anything!
It just seems to be a personal fragrance statement some dogs make.

.Why does your dog scoot her rear end on the ground?
This behavior is related to the anal glands. When these glands get full, they become sore and
uncomfortable. A dog will sit down and drag herself using her front legs so that they are
scratched on the ground. Sometimes this is enough to express or empty the glands. If the
anal glands of a dog are not relieved, they can become infected and impacted, sometimes
badly enough to require surgery. If your dog is scooting her rear all the time on the ground,
you should take her to see your veterinarian.

House training

.House training comes naturally
All dogs are born with the instinct to keep their bed clean. when your puppy was first old enough
and strong enough to tottle away from his brothers and sisters, he would do so to relieve
himself. Before that. his mother stimulated him to relieve himself and she cleaned up after him.
Using a crate as a training tool takes advantage on potty training and helps him learn that there
are right and wrong places to relieve himself. Often puppies bought in a pet store are diffcult to
housetrain. Because they had to relieve themselves in their cage, they have lost their inhibition
about soiliing their bed. A crate does not work for many for them.

.Types of crates
There are two types of crates available. The first type is made of plastic or fibergalass. It has a
metal barred windows for ventlation on each side. The top separates form the bottom in this type
of crate, so is it easily clean. The second type is made of heavy wire, and is more like cage It
usually has a metal tray in the bottom that can be pulled out for cleaning. Which of crate to use
is a personal preference, I think the plastic crates are good for aluld dog or for chavaling. But
metal ones work good for training puppy.

.How big?
Don't get a crate that will be enough for a St. Bernard  if you have a sheland sheepdog. If  the
carte is too big, the puppy can relieve himself in a back in corner and still have enough space
to get away form it. The purpose of using the crate to housetrain your puppy is to capitalize on
his instinct to keep his bed clean. Choose a crate that is big enough for your puppy to stand up
in turn around, and stretch out.

.Night
Put the crate in your bedroom at night so the puppy can hear you, smell you, and be close to
you all night. This is 8 hours of closeness that you couldn't find the time for any other way. with
the puppy close to you, you can hear him if he gets restless and needs to go outsides. If he
doesn't have to go outside. If th doesn't have to go outside and is just restless, you can reach
over, tap he crate and tell him "NO! Quiet!"

.Day
During the day, put the puppy in his crate for a few minutes here and there, whenever you are
too busy to supervise him. As few as 20 minutes here or 30 there are okay, as long as he gets
plenty of attention, exercise, and time with you in between his times in the crate.

.The first step
Take your puppy outside where you want him to relieve himself.  Stand outside but don't
interact with him. when the puppy starts to sniff and circle, just watch. After has started to
relieve himself, tell him softly,"Go potty. Goodboy to go potty." You can also give your puppy
a food reward. When he has completed his business, praise him even more.( you can use
whatever vocabulary you wish, as long you say the same thing every time.) Don't teach your
puppy to relieve himself on a newspaper on the floor unless you actually want him to go potty
in the house, on newpaper. Instead, start taking him outside right away.

.Establishing a schedule
all babies need a schedule, and puppies are no exception. Housetranining is much easier if
the eat, sleeps, and goes outside on a fairly regualer schedule. Variatons are allowed, of
course, but not too many. But most puppies need to relieve after a nap and long night sleep.

.Teach the right lesson
When an accident does happen, you must handle it very carfully. It is important that the puppy
learns urinating and defecation are not wrong, but that the place where he did it was wrong. If
you come upon the puppy as he is having an accident, use a verbal correction: "Acckk! NO!"
Scoop him up and take him outside. Then clean up the mess but do not let him watch you clean
it up. (In a dog or wolf pack, only subordinate pack members would clean up this way) If you find
an accident after it's happened, do not correct the puppy - it's too late.

First Vet Visit

.You need to know
If you bought the puppy in a pet store or a shelter the first exam should be on the first day. If you
bought a puppy form a breeders he should give a distemper shot and be dewormed before you
Ieave with you puppy.Having your puppy examined by a vet should be your top priority, no matter
where you got him from, or what the circumstances.

.Be prepared
When you call to make the appointment, make sure you tell the receptionist this is your new
puppy's first visit. She will ask you some information about the puppy to start his health record
and she will tell you to bring in some of the puppy's stool. The stool will be checked for signs of
internal parasites. Bring in a small piece (half a teaspoon is enough) of that morning's stool. To
collect a sample, invert a plastic sandwich bag over your hand, pick up the stool and then pull
the plastic back off your your hand, over the stool and seal it. Don't forget to bring the sample
with you! Remember, the fresher the stool you give for your puppy's stool test, the better
because as the stool ages and dries out, signs of parasites are harder to see.

.Basic Checks
During the first examination, the vet will check:
Eyes: The vet will check your puppy's eyes. Ideally,a puppy's eyes should be clear, not cloudy
and should have no discharge. Unhealthy looking eyes can inicate the presence of diseases
elsewhere in the body, as well in the eyes themselves.
Mouth: The vet will check your puppy's mouth. the tongue should be a healthy pink color. The
gums should have no inflammation and sould also be pink (not pale which suppests anemia, or
yellow which indicates a liver problem). The teeth will also be checked.
Ears: The ear canals should be dry, without any discharge or deposits. The vet will also check
that the ears are healthy in color and no foreign matter is present.
Glands: If your puppy's lymph nodes or glands are swollen, it indicates an infection in
that part of the body.
Anal Region: The vet will check the glands in your puppy's anal region
and will look for indications an infection of tapeworm. He will also check the consistency of the
puppy's feces, as diarrhea could indicate a problem As you watch your vet check your puppy try
to remember, eyes, mouth, ears, glands and anal region so you can check your own puppy every
week. You may not be a vet, but any body can feel for lumps or see a discharge.

Maintaining Health

.What age?
Traditionally, dog have been spayed or neutered at obout 6 months of age. However, in an effort
to discourage breeding, many humane societies have been spaying and neutering very young
puppies some as young as 8 weeks of age. Surgery at the age of 8 weeks has so far been shown
to have no ill effects on a puppy's health.

The Benefits
While stopping unwanted reproduction is a powerful reason to spay or neuter your dog, there are
Meny other health benefits as well:
For Males:
+Decrease male sexual behaviors, including leg-lifting, marking, roaming and fighting.
+Protect him from testicular cancer.
For Female:
+Decrease the incidence of breast cancers.
+Protect her against cancers of the reproductive system.

.Special Cleaning
Fleas: A flea comb will catch some of the little pests, especially around the puppy's eyes and
but many owners are afraid of using too much, and it's a very real concern.Only use flea and tick
preparations made especially for puppies. If you have any doubts or concerns, consult with your
Veterinarian.
Gum: Rub the area with ice to freeze the gum and break it out, or pour on some vegetable oil to
ooze it out. (Follow up the oil Treatment with a bath). However, be aware that gum usually needs
to be trimmed out.
Paint: Don't use Paint solvents on your puppy. They're toxic! Try to watch the paint out soap and
water. If it won't come out, trim away the painted hair.
Motor Oil: A simple detergent dish washing soap usually cuts the oil. Just make sure you rinse
is out will.
Burrs & Seed: Many seeds can simply be combed out. If they're stuck in a tangle use some
vegetable oil (just a little) or some hair conditioner to make the burr a little slippery. You will then
have to wash the oil or conditioner out with a good shampoo. If the seed has really worked into
the coat, trim it out.
Quills & spines: Call your veterinarian. Pulling out or working out quills can be very painful, and
your vet may want to sedate the dog while he does it.
Skunks: Soak your dog in tomato juice or vinegar, rubbing it deep into the coat. Let it sit for a
few minutes, then rinse it out. You may need to repeat the treatment several times, A simple it
detergent dish washing soap also helps cut the smell (it cleans out the oil in the skunk's
discharge). There are also commercial preparations on the market that will do.

.Cleaning the Ears
While cleaning his ears, wet a cotton  ball with witch hazel, alcohol, or commercial canine ear
cleaning solution and wring out most of the moisture. with your puppy on your lap and distracted
by a lick of peanut butter, lift the ear flap and gently wipe the creases. If the ear is dirty, you may
need two or three cotton balls.

.Cleaning the Teeth
Get a very small child's toothbrush for your dog, or buy one specially designed for dogs. usk your
vet or the or the local pet supply store for canine toothpaste. If you use this, your pup will not
need to rinse his mouth. Or you may use baking soda. Don't use your toothpast on your puppy.
Not all of the ingerdients are safe for dogs, and the taste is offensive to canines. Invite your
puppy to lie down in your lap, and open his lips with your fingers. You obviously can't use peanut
butter to distract him in this case, so be gentle and speak soothingly to him if he gets restless.
Start by gently rubbing the toothbrush up against the outside of his side teeth. He will probably
try to chew on the brush. If he does, take the brush away as you gently discourage him.

Food & Nutrition

.Ingredients
The quality of a pet food is also bested on the quality of the ingredients. Grains grown in minerals
poor soils will few minerals to pass on to the puppy that consumes them. Poor-quality meats will
be less able to nourish the puppy. Less espensive foods contain inexpensive and less nourishing
grains and less of the more expensive meats. Again, the puppy's nutrition can, and often will
suffer.

.You get what you pay for
Dog food is one item where you usually get what you pay for. The more expensive puppy food
areas a general rule better quality foods. The less expensive foods especially the generic or plain
label foods are lesser quality foods.

.Dry or Wet?
There are three main types of dog food:
Dry: These come in a bag and are broken up into small pieces. They usually contain grains and
meats. Dry Foods have a good shelf life and most dogs eat them quite readily. They are usually
very affordable some more so than others.
Semi-Moist foods: These have a higher moisture content than dry, kibbled foods, but not as
high canned. Many dog treats are semi-moist. These food are high in sugar and salt, as well as
artificial colorings none of which your puppy really needs.
Wet, canned foods: These are mostly meaty meats or meat recipes. They have a high water
content. In the can they have a long shelf life, but once the can is opened they must be used
right away. Canned foods are very palatable but are more expensive than dry foods.

Picking a food
Which is the best for for your puppy? most veterinarians and breeders recommend dry food. The
Action of chewing the hard kibble will help keep your dog's teeth clean and healthy. And dry
foods provide the most  nutrients for the money. Since wet foods are mostly water, your dog
has to eat a lot more of them in order to get the nutrition she needs every day. That means
more going in, andmore coming out by the puppy which may not be very good news for your
housetraining program!

Emergency!

.A Canine first-Aid Kit
I put togetther my first canine first-aid kit 9 years ago, and am always glad I did. It has
been used for few big emergencies, and numerous small ones. I used it to take of my dog
cats, and reptile, as well as friends and neighbors dogs. It has come in handy more time
then I can count. I use a large fishing tackle box to hold all my first-aid supplies, because
it is big and has a lot of litttle sections to hold small items. What should you keep in your
canine first-aid kit?

.Essential supplies
Some of the very basics of a canine first-aid kit are Diarrhea tablets, Bandage, scissors
Contton, Gauze, Tape and a muzzle.
.Other important items
You should also have the following items for canine first-aid:
1.Large and small tweezers  2.Nail clippers for dogs         3.Thermometer
4.Safety pins                      5.Antiseptic cleansing wipes   6.Alcohol prep pads
7.Hydrogen peroxide           8.Clean Fabric                      9.syringe

.Heatstroke and its cure
A dog that is overheated will lie down, often flopping herself down, or will pace and forth in
agitation. She will pant heavily and may go into shock. Her body temperature will rise rapidly.
The number-one cause of heatstroke is dogs being left alone in a cars. Never ever leave a dog
shut in a car on a hot day not even for a moment. A car will heat up to over 100'F in just
minutes, even if its in the 70s outside. Cool your puppy down: immediately. Immerse her in cool water or hose her down, cover her with cold wet towel, and get her to the vet's office right away.
.What to do for choking

Puppies put stuff in their mouths all the time. After all, they don't have hands, and tasting and
chewing on things is one of the ways puppies discover their world. Unfortunately, that means
puppies (and adult dogs) are in danger of choking this is what you can do:
1.Checking
If your dog seem to be choking, coughing or gagging, open her mouth and try to see what is
blocking her airway.
2.Removing
If you can reach it, do so and pull it out. Tongs (such as salad tongs) will help you grasp a
round opject, such as a ball.If you can't pull out whatever is in your puppy's throat, try this.
Stand above and behind her, reach under ther belly just behind the ribcage and pull up quickly
several time. If this doesn't bwork, don't wait! Her life is at stake get her to the vet right away.

.Gastric Torsion (bloat) (large breed dogs)
No one is sure what causes bloat, but you can lessen the likelihood by keeping the dog quiet
for an hour after each meal, feeding two or three meals instead of one large meal, and limiting
water intake for an hour after each meal. If you notice your dog has an enlarged abdmen or is
pacing, showing extreme restlessness, or gagging without throwing up (especially soon after
eating), Get her to the vet office right away. Bloat can be treated if the dog arrives at the vet's
office soon enough. Left untreated, it can be fatal! When a dog bloat, the gases that are
normally produced in the stomach cause the abdomen to distend. If there is too much pressure
can actually twist (torsion). Shock follows quickly and th dog dies.

Understanding Dog Behaviors

Why does my dog do that?

.Do you call him to come/heel and your dog refuses?
.Did your dog eat all of your things in your home?
.Do you scream at the top of your lungs at your dog?

If any of these sounds like you. I know your techniques are not working.

Meeting a Dog.

The proper way to approach a new dog is not to approach the dog at all. dogs never face on unless
there are challenging each other. the right way when you meeting a dog is don't make eye
contact you allow the dog to come to you and let the dog sniff you. Remember a dogs nose is much stronger than yours.

Body Language.

Your dog is constantly observing you she is also reading your body Language. Dogs use body language as an other means of communicating. You can learn your dogs body language by the visual clues she gives you. like a dogs tail between he legs means fear or avoidances. And tail raised can mean alert or aggression behavior.

Problem Breeds?

.Are dalmatian naturally nervous?
.My dog is aggression is it because my dog is part pitbull?

There's no such thing as a problem breeds. However, there no shortage of problem owners and
know it all breeders. The breed is just special needs he might have. Like Shetland sheepdog are for sheep herding, Afghan Hound are sighthound and pitbull are for fighting bulls. It doesn't matter what breed of your dog is. That's why it's a mistake to obsess about the breed when your dealing with a behavior problem.

PACK

A dog pack means every thing to a dog. Dogs status in the pack is his identity. Then you live in households with one or more dogs, the dominate dog can be male or female. The gender does not matter. It is important to remember that a very dominant dog should only be with a person who has skill and the knowledge for being a strong leader, also must make a commitment seriously.

Hyperactive Dogs.

.Does your dog jump all over you when you come home?
.Do you think it's because your dog is happy to see you?

It's not the dogs personality. Hyperactive and over excitement isn't natural or a dog. It's not healthy. I've noticed that some people often interpret the word happiness and excitement as the same thing. The two aren't the same. A happy
dog is alert; Her ears are up and the head is up, and the tail wagging. An overexcited dog is jumping up, panting and can't stop moving around. First of all, if your dog is jumping on you, it's an act of dominance. Don't allow it. Dogs don't greet other dogs by jumping all over them. They greet one another by
sniffing.

  Understanding Dog Food

How to Read Dry or Can dog food labels.

1. Never Read the front of a dog food bag/can ( just read the Ingredients)

2. The first 5 ingredients are 60% of what your dog is eating

3. Never feed or dog the ingredient called MEAT AND BONE MEAL!

4. The first 2 or 5 ingredients Should be meat

5. Fresh home made dog food is always better then any dry or can dog food

Unhealthy dog food ingredients.

Meat and Bone Meal:
Meat and bone meal is a dry ash, of dead, dying, disabled or diseased animals.
That include cattle, horses, chickens, lamb, cats, fish, goats, road kill, pigs, dogs, rats, and
any thing they can put in a animal rendering vat.

By-products:
eat by-products which are ground, rendered, slaughtered meat carcass parts including necks,
feet, undeveloped eggs, bones, heads, intestines and feathers from chicken meat. By-products
are common in both lower and higher brands of commercial dog food.

BHA BHT:
Short for Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA) and Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT), both of which
are chemical preservatives. BHA and BHT have been banned from human use in many countries.
In the US, they are still permitted in pet foods.

Ethoxyquin:
A srong chemical preservative that it cancerous for dog and humans.

Propylene glycol:
auses the destruction of red blood cells.

Artificial flavors and colors:
Used to enhance a product and to appeal to the human eye. Use of these ingredients can conceal
damage or make the product appear better than it actually is.

Sugar & Corn Syrup:
Corn syrup is also known (and approved?) as an effective "humectant and plasticizer", that is, as
ingredient which gives the product dampness and flexibility. They produce the same highs and
lows as table sugar and a great deal of stress on the pancreas and adrenals.

Animal Fat:
Obtained from the tissues of mammals and/or poultry in the commercial process of rendering or
extracting. Animal fat is a by-product of meat meal processing. The origin of the contributing
animals is never known.

Animal Digest:
A material which results from chemical and/or enzymatic hydrolysis of clean and undecomposed
animal tissue. Any kind of animal can be included: goats, pigs, horses, rats, etc. The animals can
be obtained from any source, so there is no control over quality or contamination.

Beet Pulp (Sugar):
Beet pulp is rather controversial, many think that it is an excellent additive and source of fiber and
that all sugar has been completely extracted before being added as a pet food ingredients. If this
is the only "problem" ingredient in a kibble, other factors will have to help you decide.

Brewers Rice:
Brewer's Rice is the small milled fragments of rice kernels that have been separated from the
larger kernels of milled rice. It a "lower quality rice product that is missing many of the nutrients
found in Ground Rice and Ground Brown Rice.

Corn Wheat Soy:
Many foods include grains like corn, wheat, gluten and soy, which are used as a protein source
but are often difficult to digest. All of these ingredients can put unnecessary stress on your dog’s
system and can lead to diminished overall health.

Corn Gluten Meal:
Corn Gluten Meal is the dried residue from corn after the removal of the larger part of the starch
and germ. Added to pet food to slow down the transition of rancid animal fats (think toxic waste).
This holds the waste in. Kidneys and liver work overtime. Dogs may chew their lower backs.
Feet may swell, so the dogs lick their feet. Corn is the #3 common cause of food allergies in dogs.

Rice Flour:
Rice Flour consists principally of the soft, finely ground and bolted meal obtained from milling rice
(containing essentially the starch and gluten of the endosperm) together with fine particles of rice
bran and the offal from the 'tail of the mill.' This is a highly pre-processed ingredient. All of the
naturally occurring vitamins have been leeched out by the processing. Ground Rice with its natural
nutrients intact would be preferable.

Rice Gluten (Glue):
Rice Gluten Meal is the dried residue from rice after the removal of the larger part of the starch
and germ. Because of this, pet food companies can use the cheaper by-products of human food
production, such as Rice Gluten Meal. Meat is always the best source of quality protein. Meat
protein is better absorbed and retained and is higher in essential amino acids like methionine,
arginine, and taurine. Rice Gluten Meal has a biologic value less than 50% of Chicken Meal.

Soybean Meal:
Soybean Meal is the product obtained by grinding the flakes which remain after removal of most
of the oil from soybeans by a solvent or mechanical extraction process. A poor quality protein
filler. The 'Crude Protein' analysis on pet food is only a measurement of the amount of nitrogen in
a food not the quality of the protein. Some allege that soybeans are the #1 allergy of dogs."

Healthy dog food ingredients.

Alfalfa:
A source of nutritional fiber, micro-nutrients, iron and chlorophyll. Aids in healing allergies,
stomach ailments and bad breath, cleanses the kidneys and removes poisons from the body.

Amaranth:
An excellent source of carbohydrates and linoleic acid. It also has great flavor that complements
the flavor of barley, oats and rye. Calms the stomach, reduces tissue swelling, removes worms
and parasites from the digestive tract.

Apples:
Fresh apples are an excellent source of pectin, which is a natural fiber responsible for removing
toxins, reduces risk of heart disease and is beneficial for diabetic animals.

Barley:
A highly digestible natural whole grain, providing excellent quality protein, carbohydrates and fiber.
It is an excellent source of B vitamins and Lysine, an essential amino acid lacking in many dog
food ingredients.

Brewers Yeast:
(Nutritional Yeast) A rich source of the B vitamins, contains 16 amino acids, 14 minerals and 17
vitamins. Protects, binds and rids from mycotoxins, which cause liver and organ damage.

Brown Rice:
Contains a generous supply of B vitamins, plus calcium, phosphorus, and iron. A source of
complex carbohydrate, provides quick energy and is higher in protein than milled white rice.

Blueberries:
Blueberries are rich in vitamin A & C, potassium and fiber. Fresh blueberries provide flavor,
